What is C.A.M.P.?

The Composer Assistant Mentoring Programme (C.A.M.P.) is run by FAM's London office, having launched in 2022, supported by Youth Music. It creates sustainable opportunities for young music creators from underrepresented groups to break into music for media.

Now in its third edition, previous mentees have been commissioned on award-winning films, gained significant credits, and established themselves as professional media composers.

Programme Summary

Stage 1

From hundreds of applicants, 10 mentees are selected based on their music and personal statement.

Stage 1 consists of a series of online sessions covering the commissioning process and the realities of a career in music for screen, led by a rotating roster of top industry professionals. Mentees are then paired with an established composer for one-to-one sessions, before pitching on a real BFI short film to a panel of industry judges — with one composer selected for Stage 2.

Confirmed mentors for C.A.M.P. 2026 include: Alex Baranowski, Anne Chmelewsky, Cassie Kinoshi, CJ Mirra, Gazelle Twin, Hannah Peel, Joe Wilson, Paul Saunderson, and Sunna Wehrmeijer, with more to be announced.

Stage 2

One mentee is selected for a full-time paid three-month placement as a Composer Assistant, gaining hands-on experience and real credits on live projects.
