Andrea Balency-Béarn
Andrea Balency-Béarn is a French-Mexican composer and performer based in London. Her film scores include On the Road (dir. David Pablos), winner of the Orizzonti Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, and Dust (dir. Anke Blondé), which premiered in Competition at the Berlinale. Her score for Dance of the 41 (dir. David Pablos) was nominated for an Ariel Award. She has scored feature films and series for Netflix, Amazon Studios and the BBC.
Born in Paris and raised in Mexico City, her work spans concert music, electronic production and film. She writes for forces ranging from solo to orchestra, and is regularly commissioned by ensembles including the Riot Ensemble, Plus-Minus Ensemble and the Nash Ensemble. She is currently a PhD researcher at the Royal Academy of Music, exploring the relationship between acoustic sound, live performance and electronics.
She is a member of UK band Mount Kimbie, co-writing and touring internationally.
