Biography

Annie Pearlman (New York) and Melissa Chapman (Chicago) are Groove Garden. Two women, two cities, one major music supervision superpower - helping clients achieve the perfect synergy of music and visual. Formally established in 2009, they pride themselves on being easy and fun to work with while managing expectations, efficiently communicating and getting the job done. With expert negotiation and creative problem-solving happening simultaneously, they are equipped and experienced for various challenges and can keep the vibes easy and drama free.

Their love of storytelling is complemented by their passion for music, and discovering new ways of enhancing a story through that symbiotic relationship has been the key to Groove Garden’s success. Some of Groove Garden’s most recent music supervision credits include A24 and Killer Films’ "A Different Man," directed by Aaron Schimberg; Ley Line’s "Between the Temples," directed by Nathan Silver, and Neon’s "Stress Positions," directed by Theda Hammel. Last year’s films included HBO Original’s “Reality,” starring Sydney Sweeney and directed by Tina Satter; “The Sweet East,” the critically acclaimed debut feature from cinematographer Sean Price Williams which premiered at the 2023 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight; Shudder’s “Perpetrator,” written and directed by Jennifer Reeder; and “The Adults,” starring Michael Cera, and directed by Dustin Guy Defa, released by Universal.

Always champions of independent film, Melissa and Annie pride themselves on collaborating with singular voices who expand the lexicon of interesting and provocative cinema. In addition to film and television, Groove Garden has a long history of music supervising ads and other media and has worked with advertising clients including Target, JC Penney, Best Buy, Heineken, Tecate, New Balance, and more.
