Jumi Akinfenwa
Jumi Akinfenwa is a London-based music supervisor. With a background in sociology and previous experience as an award-winning culture journalist for publications including The Guardian, VICE and The Independent, she applies a research-led and nuanced approach to her work, leaning into projects that tell culturally rich human stories and champion marginalised communities.
Notable past music supervision credits include Black British drama feature The Kitchen, directed by Daniel Kaluuya and Kibwe Tavares (Netflix, Film4), Nigerian director Olive Nwosu’s feature length debut, LADY (Film4), and young adult romance My Fault: London (Amazon MGM, 42), for which she was nominated for a Guild Of Music Supervisors Award in 2026. She formerly worked in-house at Amazon MGM Studios on their EU Music Team, working across Film & TV productions in UK, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden, and she currently sits on the D&I Committee for the UK & European Guild of Music Supervisors.
Jumi has extensive public speaking experience, appearing on panels for Sheffield Doc Fest, Roundhouse, and Live Nation, amongst others, and she has also appeared on radio shows and podcasts, including Switched On Pop and Worldwide FM.
