Kate Diaz
Kate Diaz is a composer, songwriter, music producer and multi-instrumentalist based in LA. She writes scores and songs for film, TV, theater, video games and other media.
Included as one of Variety's Broadway 10 To Watch, Kate was the composer/co-lyricist of the Broadway musical Redwood starring Idina Menzel. She was scouted for the project online when the creative team did a nation-wide search for composers from non-musical theater backgrounds. Kate was also the orchestrator/arranger of the show and co-produced its cast album with Neal Avron (released by SonyMasterworks).
As a film/TV composer, Kate scores for a variety of genres. She is currently scoring upcoming indie feature Games We Play (starring Riverdale’s Casey Cott) and animated special Hot Wheels Let’s Race: Attack of the T-Rex for Mattel/Netflix. Recent credits include writing music for the NBC 2026 Winter Olympics broadcast and for Epic Games’ Fortnite. Working for composer Patrick Stump, she wrote additional music for upcoming horror comedy feature film Drag (SXSW) and also for Warner Brothers animated feature film Merry Little Batman, Netflix animated series Hot Wheels: Let’s Race, and documentary feature film 76 Days Adrift.
As a songwriter, Kate writes and self-produces pop/rock songs. She co-wrote and produced the end title song for HBO documentary A Tree of Life: The Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting, sung by Idina Menzel. Kate also recently wrote and produced the theme song for Welcome to the Party, a new women’s sports podcast hosted by Billie Jean King, Abby Wambach, and Julie Foudy. Originally from the Chicago area, she is endorsed by Godin Guitars and grew up as a performing songwriter from age 12, playing hundreds of shows and national festivals (including Lollapalooza, Earth Day on the National Mall, NAMM). She has written and produced five albums of original pop/rock songs and has sync placements on multiple tv shows (including Love Is Blind, The Ultimatum, Love Island, Home and Away). She is currently the composer/lyricist of a new musical in development.
