Biography

Originally from the Pacific Northwest and now residing in Los Angeles, Kevin Lax is a rapidly emerging composer known for his compelling, versatile, and skilfully written music. Having scored 2018’s summer blockbuster The First Purge and the Netflix film Juanita, starring Alfre Woodard, Kevin finds himself amid a growing demand for his finely crafted music, relishing in the opportunity to collaborate with inspired and dynamic filmmakers. Kevin co-scores the hit Netflix and DreamWorks Animation series Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. He is currently co-scoring the DreamWorks Animation film Orion for Netflix.

Kevin attended USC for both undergraduate and graduate studies, where he was the recipient of numerous awards and grants. He has worked as a composer, arranger, conductor and instrumentalist with many industry notables, including James Newton Howard, Michael Giacchino, Snuffy Walden, and Bill Conti, and has also served as a producer on many pop albums, including collaborations with Desiigner and Snoop Dogg. Some other highlights of his career include composing music for Lucas Arts’s Star Wars Storm for the LSO recorded at Abbey Road, traveling to Virginia to work with the cast and crew on the set music for Burning Sands, and writing music for the TV shows Walking Dead and Agents of Shield. Outside of music, Kevin enjoys exploring the great outdoors, teaching, and traveling. He is also a graduate of the ASCAP film-scoring workshop.
