Roger Suen
Composer extraordinaire Roger Suen has imparted his expertise to numerous feature films, television series, video games and documentaries. He recently scored the latest instalment of the popular video game series Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed Jade, for Tencent & Ubisoft. In the last two years, Roger scored the hit rom-com Love In Taipei for Paramount+, the Nicholas Cage-led action-comedy The Retirement Plan, and the sci-fi/rom-com Into The Sky, starring David Cross and Sam Richardson, as well as writing additional music for Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance.
Roger is also a long-time collaborator with director Justin Chon, scoring the MACRO-produced Asian familial-centric drama Blue Bayou, which premiered at Cannes in 2020, was acquired by FocusFeatures, and was included in the Film Scorer’s top 10 scores of 2021. Roger also worked with Chon to score his films Gook (Sundance 2017), Ms Purple (Sundance 2019), and Jamojaya (Sundance 2023). Film Music Magazine said Roger’s critically acclaimed score for the 2017 Sundance award-winning Gook was “powerfully unexpected, musical colour" and included it in their Top 10 Scores of 2017.
Roger’s diverse music portfolio includes scoring additional music for the top-streamed Netflix action comedy Red Notice, starring Dwayne "The Rock” Johnson and Ryan Reynolds; Lionsgate’s live-action videogame adaptation Borderlands with Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart; Warner Brothers' DC League of Super-Pets, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon and Keanu Reeves; Guillermo del Toro’s four-time Oscar-winning film The Shape of Water; Netflix’s five-time Emmy-nominated series Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll; and Marvel’s Emmy-nominated series The Defenders, starring Cox, Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter.
Through his mastery of orchestral composition and modern electronica, he has created heart-pounding additional music for blockbuster films such as Oscar-nominated X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, The Star and The Darkest Minds.
